About the lecture

The history of science in Spain has never been properly valued, even by Spanish scientists themselves today. In this talk we will focus on Azarquiel, a representative of medieval science who, in the speaker's opinion, is the greatest Spanish astronomer of all time. Rescuing him and other forgotten scientists aims to repay, at least partly, the historical debt we owe them. It may also help to highlight Spain's current position on the world stage and connect it, across the centuries, with the golden age of Spanish astronomy in the Middle Ages.
