About the lecture

In this talk I will share the latest knowledge we have about meteorites and meteoroids and their relationship with asteroids. Last 11 December, a meteoroid entered Earth's atmosphere over the Granada region. The fireball produced a sound effect that caught the attention of many people and of the media the next day. The idea of this talk is to explain the difference between meteoroids, fireballs, meteorites and asteroids. I will bring up to date everything we know about meteorites: how important is the arrival of extraterrestrial material in Earth's atmosphere? What is that process like? If the meteorite that survives entry is found, what information can it give us? Is the contribution of material to other bodies of the Solar System important?
