About the lecture

Talk by Rainer Schödel, a regular collaborator of the teams of Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez, winners of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics, about their research on Sgr A*, the central supermassive black hole of our galaxy.

Andrea Ghez and Reinhard Genzel were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics for their discovery of the massive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way. In my talk I will review the history of their research from a front-line perspective (having worked closely with both researchers on this subject). I will explain the methods and measurements they used and the strength of their results.
